WHITEHAWK, CA : Man dies in crash on Highway 89 on Wednesday, 4th September 2019

A man was found dead Wednesday by Caltrans workers near Highway 89 near Whitehawk Ranch Golf Club.

A press release issued Thursday by the California Highway Patrol Quincy office said the 23-year-old Turlock man was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic at an undetermined speed when the car went off the road at a curve.

The Chevrolet struck a pine tree about 25 feet off the off-road before sliding down the embankment, out of sight from the roadway.

Caltrans workers were placing guide markers when they found the car, which had been severely damaged from the crash. The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office pronounced the man dead at the scene, the release said.
