Milwaukee ,WI :Chandler Long, 19,hospitalized after hit-and-run crash on Saturday night ,July 11th 2015

Chandler Long, 19, remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma after being hit by car while skateboarding home Saturday night.

The incident occurred at about 11 p.m. near 59th and Clarke streets. The car left the scene.

Long’s father is a lieutenant with the Milwaukee police.

“One of the detectives called me and said, ‘Is your son Chandler?’ and I go, ‘Yeah.’ They said, ‘Stay there, we're coming to get you.’ Normally when that happens they're making a notification to a parent telling them the worst. And I thought that's what they were going to do. They rushed us out here to Froedtert. (I) got into see him in the trauma room. That's a sight that no parent should ever see,” William Beauchene said.

Long’s parents said he’s improving but their biggest concern is brain function when he’s out of his medically induced coma.
