Kulpmont, PA : One hurt in two-car crash in Kulpmont on Saturday night, January 28, 2017

Kulpmont police and emergency units responded to a two-vehicle crash on the 1500 block of Chestnut Street (Route 61) Saturday night in which one driver was injured.

The crash on the west end of the borough occurred shortly before 6 p.m. when a 2014 Hyundai Coupe operated by Jeremiah T. Soboleski, 28, of Mount Carmel, rear-ended a Nissan Frontier pickup while driving south on Route 61, according to Officer-in-charge Patrick McAndrew.

McAndrew reported Soboleski said he was attempting to merge back into the driver’s lane and can’t remember anything after that. Soboleski was injured and treated at the scene by emergency medical technicians from AREA Ambulance before being transferred to the hospital for further evaluation.

The driver of the Nissan, Michael Terry, 70, of Kulpmont, was uninjured. His vehicle sustained moderate damage to the rear and was able to be driven from the scene.

The Hyundai sustained extensive damage and had to be towed.
