Waynesboro, VA : Waynesboro woman killed in crash on Windsor Road on Monday, April 3, 2017

A Waynesboro woman has died as a result of injuries after a car crash on Monday.

Mataline Kennedy Carroll, 88, was driving a 2003 Ford Focus on Windsor Road. Carroll stopped at the intersection of Delphine Avenue, but then failed to yield to a 2003 Jeep Liberty traveling southbound on Delphine as she tried to cross the avenue.

The Jeep, carrying four people, struck Carroll’s vehicle in the driver side door.

Carroll was removed from the vehicle and transported to Augusta Health with serious injuries. The Waynesboro Police Department said in the release she succumbed later that evening to her injuries.

No injuries were reported from the people traveling in the Jeep.

In addition to the WPD, the Waynesboro Fire Department and First Aid Crew also responded to the crash. It occurred at about 12:30 p.m.
