Fairfield, CA : A 50-year-old man was killed when his motorcycle crashed into the back of a car at Interstate 80 On Monday, September 19th, 2016
A 50-year-old Pioneer man was killed early Monday when his motorcycle crashed into the back of a car and he was thrown from the bike and hit by another vehicle,
according to the California Highway Patrol.
James Graves was traveling about 75 mph on eastbound Interstate 80, east of Midway Road, at 5:20, when traffic slowed and his 2006 Kawasaki Z10 collided with the back
of a Nissan Versa driven by Giovanni Kapili, 52, of Vacaville, the CHP reported.
He was thrown from the bike, landed on the highway and then struck by a passing vehicle, the CHP reported.
Dixon fire personnel also responded to the scene. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be involved, the CHP reported. No one else was injured in the crash.
It was the second deadly crash along I-80 near Dixon in as many days.
Larry Dixon, 71, of Elk Grove, and a passenger the 2003 Toyota Tundra he was driving, Leticia Mora, 59, of Sacramento, were killed shortly after 2:20 a.m. Sunday after
Dixon allowed the Tundra to drift onto the dirt and gravel freeway shoulder and then caused the vehicle to flip several times after he tried to turn back onto the
paved portion of the roadway.
That crash happened on eastbound I-80 near the northbound Highway 113 connector ramp. The wreck and subsequent investigation blocked the connector ramp for
approximately three hours.
Two other passengers were hurt in the crash and were taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center.
All four people were wearing seatbelts, according to the CHP, and drugs or alcohol are not suspected as contributing factors in the crash.
