Seminole County, FL : 51-year-old Oviedo man died after he fell from the bed of the Ford pickup truck on Sunday night, March 15, 2015

An Oviedo man died Sunday after he and the mattress he was riding on in the back of a pickup truck became airborne, causing him to fall into the road.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said that 48-year-old Kenneth Connell, of Sanford, and Paul Ginther Jr., 51, were near Osceola Road and Osceola Fish Camp Road at about 4 p.m. when Ginther, who had been sitting atop a mattress in the bed of the truck, fell into the road as the pickup was traveling in Seminole County.

According to Montes, the unsecured mattress, which was on top of debris that the truck was carrying, flew from the vehicle, carrying Ginther with it.

Ginther was pronounced dead at Orlando Regional Medical Center, and troopers will continue to investigate, Montes said.
