Tucson, AZ : Minor injuries for driver who crashed car into restaurant on Friday, January 23, 2015

An 89-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after she reportedly lost control of her car and crashed into a northwest-side restaurant on Friday.

According to the Northwest Fire District, the accident happened just after 3:15 p.m. at the Villa Mexican Food restaurant at 2840 West Ina Road.
The car lost control as the driver, who was the sole occupant in the car, was parking. The vehicle jumped the curb and struck a glass window in the restaurant and then veered into a pillar that supports a roof over the sidewalk.

The woman, who was wearing her seatbelt, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. The car's airbags deployed.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department is investigating the crash.

No other injuries were reported, and no pedestrians were in the area when the accident occurred.

The restaurant and other businesses in the area remained open.
