WESTHAMPTON, NY : Driver crashes into utility pole in Westhampton on Monday, 17th September 2018
A driver on Northwest Road crashed into a utility pole on Monday morning, sending two of the car’s three occupants to the hospital.
Westhampton Police Sgt. Floyd Fisher was on the scene, and said two people were taken to Cooley Dickinson Hospital with unknown injuries after the crash, which happened at around 7:30 a.m.
“They were coming up the hill,” Fisher said, pointing down the road. “They hit the pole.”
Fisher had no more information at the time. He speculated that power was likely out down the hill from the pole, which was leaning heavily, pulling power lines tight on one end.
Eversource workers were at the scene of the crash assessing the damage to the pole, but declined to speak to the Gazette.
Eversource spokeswoman Priscilla Ress said that the car broke one of the company’s poles, leaving nine customers who receive electricity from that pole without power.
