Woburn, MA : 32-year-old Acushnet man died after being struck by a car in Stoneham on Saturday, May 9, 2015

An Acushnet man died after being hit by a car in Stoneham on Saturday night, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan.

Stoneham police received report that a man had been hit by a car outside an apartment building near 177 Franklin St. at 8:30 p.m.

Police found Jason Nightlinger, 32, of Acushnet, injured at the scene. Nightlinger was taken to Lahey Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver who hit Nightlinger remained at the scene, according to Ryan.

"On behalf of the entire Stoneham community, my heart and prayers go out to the victim's family following his tragic death overnight," said Stoneham Police Chief James McIntyre.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
