BROCKTON, MA : Four injured, including two police, after Brockton crash involving cruiser in the area of 126 Battles St on Saturday, 1st February, 2020

A crash involving a police vehicle left two officers with “serious injuries” on Saturday night, according to the Police Department.

The crash took place shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, in the area of 126 Battles St., police said. A police spokesman said a car pulled in front of the SUV-style police cruiser at Battles and Porter streets, causing the police officer driving the cruiser to swerve out of the way, leading to the collision with a third car on the other side of the road.

“A preliminary review reveals while the officers were heading westbound, a car pulled in front of their cruiser from Porter Street, and the driver of the patrol car veered away to avoid a collision,” said police spokesman Darren Duarte, in a short statement about the incident. “The crash occurred with a third vehicle traveling eastbound on Battles Street after police swerved out of the way.”The two officers and two civilians involved with the crash suffered “serious injuries” and were transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center, Duarte said.
