Fort myers , FL : Taxi van crashed into Home near Glenwood Avenue on Saturday morning , December 20th 2014

A taxi van crashed into a Fort Myers home Saturday morning.

It happened in the 4700 block of Glenwood Avenue at around 11:54 a.m.

According the Florida Highway Patrol, the van was driving east on left the roadway. The van drove through a fence and crashed into a home.

The driver - later identified as 70-year-old Gonzalo Nunez Collado - told Lee County deputies the brakes on the van malfunctioned. However, Nunez Collado was charged with careless driving.

The house was a foster home to three people with intellectual disabilities. Now, the residents are in need of tens of thousands of dollars to repair the damage.
"Their Christmas is gone. Everything under the three. This is their home. It's gone," said Mary Provencher, the owner of the home.

Deputies say no one was injured in the crash.
