Miami, FL : Cape Coral house fire deemed accidental, no injuries in the 2700 block of SW 1st Avenue on Thursday, 26th March, 2020 4 hours ago

The Cape Coral Fire Department responded to a house fire Thursday in the 2700 block of SW 1st Avenue.

Two people were home when they heard an explosion in the garage, according to Andrea Schuch, the department's public information officer.Their smoke alarms alerted them to the fire and they were able to evacuate safely.Crews on scene were able to contain the fire to the garage area, but there was heavy smoke damage throughout the house and some structural damage.

The investigation report lists the fire as accidental and that it started in the panel box in the garage, Schuch said.
