Jackson, MI : Driver flees traffic stop, dies in fiery crash in Jackson on Monday, May 16, 2016
Authorities say a driver who sped away from a traffic stop in Jackson has died after losing control of the SUV he was driving and crashing into a tree.
The Jackson Citizen Patriot reports a Jackson County sheriff’s deputy had stopped the driver on Monday but as the deputy approached the SUV the driver took off. Witnesses estimated the SUV was going 60-70 m.p.h. before it crashed and burned in Jackson.
Police say they believe the driver died on impact or shortly afterward. His name wasn’t immediately released. State police are investigating.
