Sapulpa, OK : Glenpool man killed in head-on crash on Taft Avenue near Moccasin Place on Wednesday morning, August 17, 2016

A head-on collision on a busy Sapulpa road left a Glenpool man dead and another man hospitalized Wednesday morning.

The crash, which occurred on Taft Avenue near Moccasin Place around 11:30 a.m., involved a westbound Chevrolet Trailblazer and an eastbound Dodge pickup, both driving in the inside lanes.

Witnesses told police the Trailblazer drifted across the center turn lane into the eastbound lane, striking the pickup, Sapulpa Police Maj. Mike Reed said.

The Trailblazer’s driver, 59-year-old Glenpool resident Elvis Cleo Watashe, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver, a man believed to be in his 30s, was taken to a Tulsa hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.
