A police chase that started in Upper Providence ended in a crash in Drexel Hill, police said.
The crash, which occurred just before 9 p.m. Thursday night near State Road and Edmonds Avenue, remained under investigation as of late Friday afternoon, township Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood said, adding that no charges had been filed.
According to information previously released by Upper Darby officials, police from another jurisdiction had been pursuing the vehicle, which crashed into another car.
At least one male fled the striking vehicle but was quickly apprehended. Reports of another male who had been in the car and was possibly armed with a handgun who also fled after the crash could not be substantiated.
Upper Darby Mayor Tom Micozzie issued an alert to residents and stressed that while the investigation continues there is no evidence of any threat to the Upper Darby community or any of its residents. He also indicated that the occupants of the struck vehicle are recovering from their injuries.
