Libertytown, MD : Baltimore man dies after crash on Md. 26 near Libertytown on Tuesday, 7th January, 2020

A Baltimore man died in a two-vehicle crash that closed Liberty Road for about three hours Tuesday morning, according to Maryland State Police.

The collision occurred at 7:07 a.m. near Albaugh Road when a 2000 Honda Civic headed east on Liberty Road/Md. 26 crossed the center line into the path of a 2009 Ford dump truck in the westbound lane, according to a state police press release issued shortly before noon. The dump truck swerved to avoid a collision, but the Civic struck the rear driver’s side and trailer of the dump truck. The driver of the Civic, 36-year-old Philip Adelman, was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states.

The driver of the dump truck, 26-year-old Mount Airy resident Travis Waddel, was not injured as a result of the crash, but the trailer end of the truck detached in the collision and damaged four sections of guardrail, according to state police.
