One driver was airlifted after a head-on collision closed S.C. 170 between the Heritage and New Riverside neighborhoods for several hours Sunday night, according to the Bluffton Police Department.

A white Ford Econoline van with South Carolina tags traveling west toward Savannah apparently crossed lanes and struck a black Mitsubishi Lancer with Georgia tags head-on just after 7 p.m., said Joy Nelson, police department spokesman.
