Briggsdale, CO : CSP investigates crash near Briggsdale that left 1 dead, 2 injured on Sunday, 14th July 2019

A young man is dead after he was ejected from a van early Sunday morning in a crash near Briggsdale under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol.

The Weld County Coroner identified the deceased as 19-year-old Devon J. Siewin, of Valparaiso, Indiana.

Trooper Josh Lewis said three young men were driving westbound sometime before 1:39 a.m. Sunday on Colo. 14 near Weld County Road 71 in a 2003 Chevrolet van. Lewis said the van went off the right shoulder of the highway and the driver over-corrected, causing the van to rotate, slide down an embankment and roll.The 20-year-old driver and another 19-year-old male passenger who were wearing seat belts received minor injuries. They were taken to North Colorado Medical Center by ambulance.

Siewin was not wearing his seat belt when the van rolled, ejecting him from the van and killing him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
