Knoxville, TN : Passenger injured in fiery crash in North Knox County on Wednesday, February 3, 2016

A woman injured in a fiery crash Wednesday in North Knox County has died, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Sarah Howe, 28, of Luttrell was the passenger in a speeding car that crashed into a tree and caught fire at 7616 Bell Road around 7:30 p.m., according to the Sheriff's Office.

Howe was taken by helicopter to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where she died.

The driver, Harlen Virgil Ferguson, 28, of Luttrell, is being treated at UT, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say Ferguson, also known as Harley Martin, was not ejected from the car as initially reported, but that he opened the car door and fell out.

Deputies spotted the car speeding on Emory Road prior to the crash.

Charges are pending, according to the Sheriff's Office.
