Haverhill, MA : Pregnant woman in critical condition after Haverhill car crash on Tuesday night, May 10, 2016

A 24-year-old pregnant woman is in critical condition this morning at Massachusetts General Hospital as a result of a two-car crash in Haverhill last night.

Josef Leavitt, also 24, is the driver authorities say plowed into the woman's Jeep Cherokee on Middle Road. He will be arraigned today in Haverhill District Court on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

A male passenger in the Cherokee with the woman suffered minor injuries, according to Essex District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Carrie Kimball-Monahan.

No other information about the alleged victims was immediately available this morning.
