A Troy, Mo., woman was killed Friday night when the driver of the car she was riding in fell asleep and ran off the road, authorities said.

Kimberly Baker, 55, of Troy, Mo., was a passenger in a Honda Civic that ran off of westbound Interstate 70 in St. Charles County about 10:45 p.m., the Missouri Highway Patrol said.

The car struck an embankment, went airborne, struck another embankment and overturned. Baker was pronounced dead at the scene east of T.R. Hughes Boulevard.

The driver of the car, Shauna Baker, 24, of O'Fallon, Mo., suffered serious injuries.

Neither woman was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
