San Antonio, TX : 4 children, 1 adult injured after collision with 18-wheeler west of San Antonio on Friday afternoon, April 22, 2016

Five people, four of them children, were hospitalized Friday afternoon following a crash in west Bexar County.

DPS Trooper Robert LaFerney said a man driving a pickup in the 15900 block of Highway 90, a short distance east of the Medina County line, slammed into the back of an 18-wheeler around 1:30 p.m.
LaFerney said three children were in the back seat of the pickup truck, and a fourth was in the front middle seat.

All of the children and the driver were taken to University Hospital, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

The driver of the big rig was not injured.

LaFerney said all five of the crash victims were responsive when they were transported.
The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
