Oregon City, OR : Police: TX man killed in crash on Hwy 211 in Clackamas County Thursday afternoon, July 14, 2016

A Texas man was killed in a crash on Highway 211 in Clackamas County Thursday afternoon, according to Oregon State Police.

Troopers responded to the single-car crash at around 4:15 p.m. near milepost 22.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 1961 Ford pickup, driven by Jacob Dondero, 33, of Caldwell, Idaho was going north when the truck left the highway at a high rate of speed.

The pickup rolled and stopped 20 feet off the road in the brush.

Oregon State Police said the passenger in the car, Anthony Scallon, 39, of Garland, Texas was pronounced dead at the scene.

Oregon State Police said Dondero was taken to OHSU.

Both Dondero and Garland were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash according to OSP.

Troopers said speed and alcohol use are being investigated as contributing factors in the crash.
