Anderson County, TX :Man killed and another injured after a semi-truck collision on U.S. 79, near the the Neches River bridge on Tuesday, November 1, 2016

A man was killed and another was sent to a local hospital following a two-semi-truck collision on Tuesday in Anderson County.

The driver who survived has been identified as Virgil Ray Dillard, 59, of Elkhart. DPS officials say that Dillard is in Palestine Regional Medical Center and is stable.

The driver who was killed in the wreck was Dickie Lynn Duckworth, 39, of Wills Point.

About 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. 79, near the the Neches River bridge in Anderson County, about 17 miles north of Palestine.

According to DPS Trooper Thomas Bledsoe, a red 2015 Kenworth 18-wheeler was heading south toward Jacksonville on Hwy 79. A second 18-wheeler, a 2005 International, carrying half of a mobile home for Clayton Homes, was headed north on the highway, headed from Waco to Monroe, Louisiana.

The 18-wheeler hauling the mobile home jack-knifed in the highway, and the first 18-wheeler struck the mobile home, which then burst into flames, according to DPS. The mobile home and the truck were both consumed by the fire.

Duckworth, the driver of the truck hauling the mobile home was killed, DPS said. The man driving the other truck, Dillard, was taken to Palestine Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
