Tarrant County, TX : 2 arrested after pursuit, crash on Monday, 24th June 2019
A motorcyclist led officers on a high-speed chase through Wise County before he crashed Monday afternoon in Tarrant County.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sgt. Ricky Hunter, at around 3:30 p.m., a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling south on U.S. 81/287 in the Decatur area for a traffic violation. The operator of the motorcycle failed to yield and instead sped off, attempting to evade the officer, Hunter said.
“The motorcycle continued south on U.S. 81/287 at a high rate of speed and merged onto I-35 south. The motorcyclist attempted to enter the I-35W Express Lanes but failed to negotiate a curve and struck the concrete wall,” Hunter said.
Following the crash, the motorcyclist and passenger then fled on foot but were apprehended.
While fleeing on foot, backpacks were thrown off the overpass and later recovered by troopers. The backpacks contained illegal narcotics and a firearm, Hunter said.
