Westminster, MD : Westminster woman died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash At Uniontown Road On Wednesday, April 27th, 2016
A 74-year-old Westminster woman died from injuries suffered in a three-vehicle crash that occurred on Md. 31 near Uniontown Road on Wednesday.
Margaret A. Myers was taken to Carroll Hospital with serious injuries from the crash scene, then transferred to Shock Trauma at University of Maryland Medical Center, where she later died, according to a news release from the Westminster Police
Department, which is investigating the crash.
A preliminary investigation showed that a 2002 Saturn, driven by Michael A. Johnson, 31, of Union Bridge, was traveling north on Md. 31 and failed to stop for standing traffic at a red traffic signal at Uniontown Road, colliding with a 2014 Toyota
Corolla, driven by Silverio V. Lopez, of Westminster, according to the news release.
The Saturn deflected off the Toyota, crossing the center line and striking a 2016 Dodge driven by Myers head-on in the southbound lanes of Md. 31, according to the news release.
Johnson was taken to Sinai Hospital in Baltimore and Lopez to Carroll Hospital, both with non-incapacitating injures, according to police.
No charges have been filed and the investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said. Crash investigators from the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack are assisting Westminster police. Once the investigation has been completed, all of
the evidence will be presented to the state's attorney for Carroll County, at which time decisions will be made relating to any charges in this crash, police said.
Johnson was found guilty in February of three traffic violations stemming from an April 2015 incident, including one for operating an unregistered vehicle on the highway, according to electronic court records.
He currently has four open traffic cases stemming from a March 30 incident, including driving on a suspended license and failure to stop after an accident with damage, according to electronic court records.
Westminster police Chief Jeff Spaulding said Johnson does not currently have a suspended license.
Anyone with information relating to the crash is asked to contact Pfc. Allan Bullington, of the Westminster Police Department, at 410-848-4646.
