A teenager was killed in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday in the South Hills.
The crash happened just before 1 a.m. on Stoltz Road in Bethel Park, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.
Shane Phillips, 16, of South Park was rushed to St. Clair Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m., a supervisor at the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said.
An autopsy showed he died of blunt-force trauma to the head. The medical examiner's office ruled his death an accident.
Phillips was a passenger in the vehicle. Two other teens were riding with him.
Phillips was a sophomore at South Park High School, according to Jeanine Gregory, superintendent.
“Tomorrow will be a difficult day for all of us,” Gregory said in a message to students' families. “Grief counselors will be available in all three school buildings for both students and staff.”
The crash is under investigation, according to the TV station.
