MOULTRIE, GA : Car hits women helping wreck victim on Saturday, 6th July 2019

Two good Samaritans were hurt, one seriously, as they tried to render aid to a wreck victim early Saturday morning. Both drivers in the initial wreck were also hurt badly.

The Georgia State Patrol said Craig Carnage, of Cairo, was coming into town in the left lane of Highway 133 near Industrial Drive about 12:15 a.m. Saturday. Gregory Ward, of 1456 Quail Ridge Road, was traveling east in the right lane of 133, outbound on a 1999 Suzuki Habusa motorcycle.

The GSP said Carnage, driving a 2014 Ford Mustang, attempted to turn left onto Fifth Avenue Southeast and pulled into the path of Ward’s motorcycle. Ward couldn’t stop. The motorcycle struck the right front fender of the Mustang, and Ward was thrown off. Both the motorcycle and its rider came to rest in the intersection in the right lane of Highway 133.

The Mustang came to rest in the roadway facing south, the GSP said. Based on the diagram that accompanied the report, the Mustang was partly on Fifth Avenue and partly in the right turn lane of Highway 133.

Two women, Stephanie Bell, of 404 Seventh Ave. S.W., and Shyanna Corman, of 308 Clifton Drive, went to Ward’s assistance.

Kaneka Shatrail Moss, of Quitman, was approaching the accident scene in a 2008 Honda Accord. She was in the right lane of Highway 133, and she told the trooper she did not see that an accident had occurred in the roadway.

The Accord struck Ward, Bell and Corman as well as Ward’s motorcycle. All three of the people were thrown across the intersection, according to the trooper’s diagram.

Carnage, Ward and Corman were taken by ambulance to Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville. Ward is in serious condition, a hospital spokeswoman said, while the others are in good condition.

Bell was taken to Colquitt Regional Medical Center. A hospital spokeswoman said she was treated and released.
