Woman dies in Spotsylvania crash near Richmond Virginia
A Richmond woman was killed after a fatal crash on Smith Station Road in Spotsylvania County Wednesday night.According to Sgt. Les Tyler of the Virginia State Police, the two-vehicle crash occurred around 9:05 p.m. approximately 200 feet north of Blackstone Boulevard.
Tyler said a 2005 Ford Focus was traveling northbound on Smith Station Road when it crossed the double yellow lines and struck a 2002 Chrysler Town & County van.The driver of the Ford, 33-year-old Elena N. Clark of Richmond, was transported to Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center, where she died around 12:25 a.m. from the injuries she sustained in the crash, police said. Tyler said she was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The driver of the Chrysler, a 49-year-old Spotsylvania woman, was transported to Mary Washington Hospital, Tyler said. Her condition is unknown.
State Police Trooper C.L. Smith investigated the crash with assistance from the Virginia State Police Accident Reconstruction Team.Smith Station Road in the area of Fox Point subdivision and Leavells Road were shut down in both directions until after 11 p.m. due to the accident, Tyler said.
