Westlake, TX : 1 dead, 1 injured in crash on Texas 95 in Bastrop County on Monday, 12th September 2016

A woman is dead and another person injured after a fatal crash on Texas 95 north of Bastrop Monday afternoon, officials said.

The Bastrop County sheriff’s office reported a major collision on Texas 95 at Pershing Blvd. about 12:45 p.m. involving two vehicles. The roadway was shutdown for about two hours while investigators examined the crash.

Officials said a woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene by Bastrop County Justice of the Peace Donna Thomson. Another person was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with unknown injuries.

The vehicle the woman was driving had to be cut open on the driver’s side to extricate her body. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification to next of kin.
