Cache County, UT : 1 man dead, 2 people injured following multi-vehicle crash at highways 91 and 61 in Cache County on Thursday morning, September 25, 2014

A 35-year-old man was killed and another person was injured Thursday morning in a multi-vehicle crash at the junction of US-91 and State Road 61 in Cache County, just south of the Idaho border. Leigh Purser, of Richmond, was killed instantly after his Jeep Wrangler was rear-ended by a possibly fatigued driver, and then struck again by an oncoming vehicle at 6:38 a.m., the Utah Highway Patrol reported. Sgt. Todd Royce said Purser was driving northbound on Highway 91 followed by a Kia minivan. When the Jeep moved into the left lane to turn left onto Highway 61, the van rear-ended it, causing the Jeep to spin into the southbound lanes of traffic, where it was hit by a pickup truck. Purser, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed instantly. The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital for treatment of a leg injury. The van driver was not injured. The van driver — who said he had taken his eyes off the Jeep to look in the mirror just prior to the crash — may have been fatigued "as he was traveling home from work," the UHP reported.
