Pedestrian killed on Hobbs New Mexico
A pedestrian was killed Friday when he walked in front of a vehicle on the Hobbs Highway, according to New Mexico State Police.According to a news release, Ryan Benally, 27, was walking across US 62/180, near mile marker 84, when he stepped in the path of a 2013 Ford pickup driven by Peter Guenther-Giesbrecht, 44, of Lovington.The area is not well lit, and Guenther-Giesbrecht was unable to see Benally in time to avoid hitting him, according to the news release. Benally was pronounced dead at the scene. State police believe Benally may have been drinking prior to the accident. Toxicology results are pending.
