Baroda,MI : 2 killed, 5 injured in highway crash near Baroda on September, Sunday 10th 2017

A rebuilt tire that lost its tread is suspected to be the cause of a fatal accident Sunday near the 18-mile marker on I-94, which took the lives of two people and sent five others to the hospital.

“We found the recap on the highway,” Chief Shawn Martin from the Baroda-Lake Township Police Department said Monday. “It was definitely a contributing factor.”

He said Osvaldo Leon, 13, of Elgin, Ill., and Francisco Valle-Lopez, 32, of Guerrero, Mexico, were pronounced dead on the scene.
