Authorities say a Carpentersville man was killed and his wife was injured in a crash involving a semitrailer in northeastern Illinois.
Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli says the vehicle driven by 89-year-old Carlos Villegas ran a red light and collided with a semi on Tuesday afternoon.
Villegas and his 87-year-old wife, Dorothy, were taken to an Aurora hospital, where he later died. She was treated for injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
The semi's driver and the driver of a third vehicle involved in the accident refused medical treatment at the scene.
Police say it doesn't appear alcohol or drugs were a factor and no citations were issued.
An investigation is ongoing.
