A head-on traffic collision sent two people to the hospital Monday night.
At about 9 p.m. a Chevrolet Silverado pickup heading westbound on Wells Avenue near its intersection with Adams Avenue veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a GMC Yukon SUV, according to a news release from the state Department of Public Safety.
The Silverado’s driver, Richard Bryant, 63, of Pierre, was not wearing a seatbelt and received serious, non-life threatening injuries. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was taken to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, the DPS news release said.
Rebecca Coleman, 41, of Pierre, who was driving the GMC Yukon also was not wearing a seatbelt and received serious non-life threatening injuries,the news release said. Coleman also was taken to Avera St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol investigated the incident.
