One person was flown to the hospital following a crash in Charlotte's University City area Friday morning.
The crash happened around 5:30 a.m. in the 12007 block of University City Boulevard.
Officials say the driver of a pickup truck slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer.
It took 16 firefighters to rescue the person trapped in the vehicle, officials say. The person was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in critical condition.
The accident caused significant delays in the area.
