Beckley, WV: Major accident on WV Turnpike near Beckley on Friday, July 17th 2015

An accident on I-77 sends 4 people to the hospital with 3 in critical condition and one in stable condition. It happened in the early afternoon hours around 2 p.m.Details are limited about how it happened. A medical helicopter was called in and landed on the interstate. We're told that three people were critically injured and two people were taken to a local hospital and one air lifted to Charleston. According to wv511.org, both Southbound lanes of the West Virginia Turnpike were blocked at Mile Marker 40.Mabscott's Fire Chief told us several people were entrapped in both cars, but everyone was conscious when taken out of the vehicles.Traffic was backed up past the Harper Road exit.
