Montgomery County, IL : Springfield man, woman die in I-55 crash on Thursday, 29th November 2018

Two Springfield residents died in a traffic crash Thursday afternoon on Interstate 55 in Montgomery County.

Illinois State Police said Robert Carlton, 81, of Springfield was driving a 2017 Chevy truck southbound at mile marker 73 at 4:11 p.m. when the truck veered off the road to the right and rolled several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, Linda Carlton, 80, was flown to HSHS St. John’s Hospital, but died after arriving at the hospital, police said.
