A 20-year-old Taunton woman was seriously injured during a crash on Route 24 North in West Bridgewater Monday night.
The two-car crash happened about 6:45 p.m. near Exit 16 at Route 106. State Police received multiple 911 calls reporting the incident.
"Crews on location were met with a hectic scene with multiple vehicles into the guardrail and multiple Good Samaritans trying to assist the injured," a Facebook post by the West Bridgewater Fire Department reads.
Troopers from the Middleboro barracks and West Bridgewater and Brockton fire departments responded.
A 20-year-old woman driving a 2005 Nissan Altima collided with a 71-year-old Taunton man driving a 2007 Kia Spectra, State Police Sgt. Tom Ryan said.
The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton and was then flown by helicopter to Boston Medical Center, Ryan said. Her condition was not immediately available Tuesday morning.
The man also suffered injuries and was taken to a local hospital for care.
The right travel lane of the highway was closed while crews worked to help those injured and clear the scene.
The cause of the crash is being investigated by the State Police collision analysis and reconstruction and crime scene services units.
As of Tuesday morning, no one had been charged or cited in the crash, Ryan said.
