Federal Way,WA : Two men die in separate accidents on Pacific Highway on January, Friday 5th 2018

A 20-year-old Tacoma man died in a two-vehicle accident last Friday, and a 34-year-old Burien man died late Saturday after he was hit by a vehicle.

Both accidents occurred on Pacific Highway South near South Dash Point Road.

The first accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. last Friday in the 29800 block of Pacific Highway S. A white sedan, driven by the 20-year-old man, was traveling southbound on Pacific Highway when the car lost control, crossing the median where it was T-boned by a red truck heading northbound, according to Federal Way police.

A 22-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, sustained minor injuries and a 2-year-old boy and an 8-month-old girl were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. They have since been upgraded to stable condition, Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said.

The 60-year-old man, who was driving the truck, was not injured.

Speed was a factor in the accident but how fast the sedan was going is not known, Schrock said.

Road rage may have also been involved, Schrock said. The female passenger told police the driver of the sedan was involved in an altercation before the accident.

“His speed may have been a part of trying to get away from it or responding to it,” Schrock said.

Police are continuing their investigation, Schrock said.

The second accident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 29400 block of Pacific Highway South. A 20-year-old Federal Way man was driving southbound in a 2005 Lexus SUV, when he realized a pedestrian was in his lane crossing the road. The driver was unable to stop and hit the 34-year-old man, who died at the scene. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk or at an intersection, Schrock said.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.
