Pulaski,WI : One person was dead, 14 people injured in Wisconsin crash involving car,and school bus on Wednesday September 03, 2014.
A car collided with a school bus that was carrying high school athletes near Pulaski, killing a passenger in the car and injuring 14 people, sheriff's officials said Wednesday.
Shawano County sheriff's officials said the car hit the back of the bus about 9 p.m. Tuesday while the bus tried to cross Highway 29. The bus was carrying varsity and junior varsity volleyball teams from Pulaski High School — 22 students, three coaches and the driver.
Eight bus passengers were taken by ambulance to Green Bay area hospitals, authorities said, while 5 students were evaluated at the scene by medical responders and taken to hospitals by their parents.
A passenger in the car, a 24-year-old Athens woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the car, a 27-year-old man from Marathon, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.
School district officials helped connect uninjured students with their parents. The students were returning from a match in Seymour.
Highway 29 westbound was closed for about five hours following the crash.
