Notus, ID : Five year old girl dead and five others hospitalized after a head-on crash on U.S. 20/26 on Saturday afternoon September 6th 2014
A head-on crash on U.S. 20/26 left a five year old girl dead and five others hospitalized. State troopers say 24 year old Jimmie Urrutia of Nyssa, Oregon crossed the center line and collided head-on with a car driven by 34 year old Saul Monreal of Caldwell. It happened just before 3 p.m. near Gotsch Road, about five miles west of Notus in Canyon County.
Idaho State Police told that a silver car traveling westbound went left of the center line into oncoming traffic, hitting a black two-door car.
"The speed limit here is 65 miles an hour, so (this was) a fairly high-speed collision," said Trooper Steven Farley. "The black vehicle was traveling eastbound and tried to avoid that (silver) vehicle, and that's when they hit head-on."
Uttutia is in critical condition and his passenger, Daniella Vielma, also of Nyssa is in stable condition.
Monreal is in stable condition. Camila Claycomb, age 27 of La Grande, Oregon was a passenger in his car. Claycomb is listed in critical condition. Five year old Ofelia Monreal died at the scene. Sixteen year old Saul Monreal Jr.'s condition is not being released.
All five patients are at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
