Tallahassee, FL : A vehicle in a fiery crash on Saturday, August 5, 2017
A vehicle in a fiery crash in the District stopped short of gas pumps at a nearby station in an incident that left one person dead and another seriously injured , officials said.
The D.C. fire department found one burning vehicle, a second vehicle flipped on its side and a toppled light post at Sixth Street and Florida Avenue NE, near a Hess gas station, at 3:17 a.m. Saturday, said Vito Maggiolo, a fire department spokesman.
A vehicle struck a parked car, but information about the crash’s sequence and the people involved were not available as D.C. police conducts an investigation. The seriously injured person was taken to a hospital, Maggiolo said.
Officials extinguished the fire and cut off fuel to the nearby gas pumps as a precaution, Maggiolo said. D.C. fire photos from the scene show a large Hess sign shattered on the ground beside the flipped car.
