Allentown, PA : Man, 41, killed in fiery Northampton borough crash early Tuesday, February 7, 2017
A Northampton man was found dead in a burning sport utility vehicle early Tuesday in the borough, police said.
Jennings Baumer, 41, of the 2300 block of Dewey Avenue, was found in the vehicle in the backyard of a home in the 2300 block of Northampton Avenue, police Chief Ronald Morey said.
Baumer died of carbon monoxide toxicity in the vehicle, according to Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek, who ruled the death an accident.
Baumer's vehicle may have been driven downhill from an alley that runs parallel to Dewey Avenue and burst into flames, police said.
Owners of the property where the vehicle stopped reported the fire before 3 a.m., police said.
The SUV came to a stop near a backyard shed, but police said the vehicle did not appear to have hit the shed or the nearby house, and no one else was injured.
