Van Wert, OH : 2 dead in Van Wert County crash on U.S. 30 at Ohio Route 49 North on Tuesday, 24th December, 2019
Two people are dead after a crash in Van Wert County Tuesday night.
Just after 8 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Van Wert Post was called to a crash on U.S. 30 at Ohio Route 49 North, a statement said today.
Investigators say the first car, driven by Brandon J. Lee, 44, of Lima, Ohio, was driving south on Ohio Route 49, when his car slid past a stop sign and came to a stop in the westbound lane of U.S. 30. That's where a 2016 Chevrolet Cruise, going west on U.S. 30 driven by Nadia K. Truman, 32, of Parma Heights, Ohio, struck Lee's 2019 Chevrolet Impala, police said.
Both Brandon Lee and Mary A. Lee, 56, of Lima, Ohio, a rear seat passenger in Lee's car, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Van Wert County Coroner.
Truman and another passenger in Lee's car were taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.
U.S. 30 westbound at Ohio Route 49 North was closed while police investigated the scene and has since reopened.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, police said.
The crash is under investigation.
