Columbia, MO : Girl injured when two cars collided on Route K and Cascades Drive on Thursday morning, February 4, 2016

A girl was injured when two cars collided Thursday morning near the intersection of Route K and Cascades Drive, local authorities reported.

The 4-year-old girl was taken to University Hospital with unspecified "serious" injuries, said Boone County Fire District Capt. Martina Pounds. The girl was in fair condition by 11:30 a.m., hospital spokeswoman Kathy Richardson said.

At about 8:25 a.m., a Jeep veered across the road, hit another vehicle and pushed it into a ditch, Pounds said.

The Jeep drove off the right side of Route K and went airborne before striking a Chevrolet Malibu, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. The Chevrolet went off-road and hit a stop sign.

The Jeep was driven by Nicole E. Thomson, according to the report. The Chevrolet was driven by Leah Buckman. The Chevrolet was totaled, and the Jeep was extensively damaged. Neither driver was injured.
