Alachua,FL : Alachua man, 34, dies in crash on CR 241 on August, Sunday 13th 2017

Florida Highway Patrol troopers are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a 34-year-old Alachua man early Sunday morning.

Danell Johnson died following the accident, which occurred on County Road 241 near Northwest 87th Avenue around 12:15 a.m., according to a Florida Highway Patrol media release.

Johnson was driving a 2012 Kia Optima south on CR 241 when he lost control on a curve. The car went off the east shoulder of the road and hit a tree.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

Troopers said he was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, where he died.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
