Raynham, MA : Driver injured in crash on Route 24 near the Pleasant Street overpass Sunday night, July 10, 2016

A driver was injured Sunday night when he lost control of his car and ended up in a wooded area on Route 24, police said.

The Raynham Fire Department and Mass. State Police responded to Route 24 south, near the Pleasant Street overpass, about 9:40 p.m. for a report of a crash.

Firefighters found one car off the road and into a ditch when they arrived, Raynham Fire Chief James Januse said Monday morning.

The fire department originally requested assistance from Bridgewater Fire as well, but canceled them shortly after arriving on scene.

A Chevrolet Heritage High Roof, which is similar to a station wagon, was being driven south on Route 24 by a 49-year-old Plainville man prior to the crash, state police Sgt. Tom Ryan said.
“The preliminary investigation by Trooper Paul Martin suggests he lost control of his vehicle, causing it to crash in the wood line,” Ryan said.

The driver was taken by a Raynham ambulance to Morton Hospital with two paramedics and a state trooper on board.

Januse said the extent of the driver’s injuries wasn’t known, but that they didn’t appear life-threatening.
“The cause remains under investigation at this time,” Ryan said Monday morning. “No charges have been filed at this time.”
