Honaker, VA : One person dead after a fatal crash in Russell County on Saturday, April 16, 2016

One person is dead after a crash in Russell County, Virginia.

At 10:48 a.m., Saturday, Virginia State Police Sr. Trooper C.D. Vance was called to the scene of a fatal crash in Russell County. The single-vehicle crash occurred in the 10,000 block of New Garden Road.

According to State Police, a 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck was traveling east on state Route 645 when it ran off the right side of the road and struck an embankment. The pickup truck then overturned several times striking a fence and barn.

The driver, Christopher M. Amos, 44, of Cleveland, Virginia, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
