Annapolis ,MD :Five seriously injured after single vehicle accident on Sunday night ,September 6th 2015

Five people, including three children, were seriously injured in a single vehicle accident in Annapolis Sunday night, according to the fire department.

County, city and Naval Academy fire departments were dispatched just before 10:30 p.m. to the area around Bay Dale Drive and Route 50, according to county fire spokesman Capt. Russ Davies.

Police said speed was a possible factor in the accident and failure to wear seat belts may have caused the injuries. There was no alcohol or drug involved.

A 45 year-old male, 41 year-old female, 14 year-old male and a five month old male were transported by helicopter to area hospitals.

A 14 year-old female was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital by paramedics.

Two additional patients were sent to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.

According to the fire department, paramedics extricated one person out of the car.

Two Maryland State Police helicopters helped transport four people to pediatric and adult trauma centers at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Davies said.
